When Hana & Dango Meets Nobuta Power!

By the way, I didn’t know that ‘Dango’ means rice cake in the first place. Did some reading up, then found out about it’s true meaning. I was actually thinking that it has reference to boys, since I originally knew of this term from Hana Yori Dango, which in short also means Flower Over Boys. Pretty lame translation eh? Oh whatever.

Talking about rice cakes, I think it’s a pretty delicious and cheap delicacy. Japan definitely has some of the nicest poor man’s food around, like ramen and okonomiyaki. I think if given a choice of choosing what to eat for the rest of my life, I would choose japanese crusine, even if it means surviving merely on cheap food like ramen, rice cakes or miso soup. I really don’t mind eating all these for the rest of my life, since I know I won’t be sick of it. Heck what’s more, I have been eating these all these years without complaints too.

Of course there’s also the expensive japanese food too. Kobe Beef anyone? And how about Pepper’s Lunch? Or even Takopachi? But of course, those who know me, knows that I don’t really mind splurging on good food. Nothing beats enjoying a good meal with a bunch of good friends and company.

Shit, now I’m thinking about food, in the middle of the night like this. Cheese pies man, and my fridge has nothing for me to whip a good meal now. No instant noodles for me, godly unhealthy piece of flour and crap MSG. Another reason is also because I don’t wanna lose my hair, yes I know I’m a sinner, vanity is a sin, but who fucking cares? I Like…

Theme: Solitary.

Solitary. I can’t help but sometimes find myself stuck in my own little world, just like this picture. This was taken quite sometime ago outside Plaza Singapura.

Theme: Lights.

Lights. Beautiful Lights. There’s a reason why I like to gaze at stars at night, watch fireworks etc.

Goodbye Densha, Hello Dragon Zakura!

Densha Otoko has finally ended its run on FujiTV last week in Japan, and with the help of a broadband connection and P2P networks (Oh how we love the internet…) I finally sat down and finished the last episode two nights ago. The last episode that aired in Japan had a pretty high ratings of 25.5%, possibly one of the strongest jdrama contender for this season. Anyway, the last episode is just there to wrap things up, since we all know from the start, that Densha will eventually end up with his “Hermes-san” together and live happily ever after. (just like the real-life account story) Personally, as a jdrama fan and been a veteran one at it (hey cmon, I have been watching jdramas since I was like what, 13 yrs old?) I do have my own gripes about the last episode, but all in all let’s just do a recap and summary of it now by yours truly.

You jump I jump? No it’s Jump Superstars!

Ok I’m here blogging again. So freaking stressed, frustrated and bored, cause I just finished burning midnight oil for tonight, was busy the whole night mugging hard at my books with only my Sony NW-HD5 been my sole companion. I didn’t even touch or logon MSN today man, blame it on my laziness earlier on in the day, no mood to study or do anything, so just slack off and watch animes lor. *lol* So just now, earlier on in the evening after I had my dinner, decided to give a go at my NDS and continue with my Jump Super Stars, but oh boy, it was damn wrong mistake, cause it was seriously fun fun fun and I was totally sucked into it, and before I knew it, 3 hours just went passed like that. (._.'’)

But I really have to say this. Jump Super Stars for the Nintendo DS is seriously one of its own. Anyone who’s into anime or manga culture, even just abit, would love the playing experience in this brilliant game. This is just like the ultimate cross-over, in terms of any anime or manga-licensed game ever, it’s like heavenly karma or nirvana for any otaku-alike. This is also one of the more serious games for the DS platform to-date, compared to the current crop of innovative and yet weird games, like for example Nintendogs, or even one of my personal favs, Pac-pix. Gameplay-wise I guess I would categorise Jump Super Stars under the RPG-fighting genre, and the rewards system is pretty good. You get to unlock komas(read: manga strips) that form up like any other pages in any mangas, and when you match a koma with the right character, you get to unlock the manga characters most famously from the Shonen Jump history, be it whether it’s a support character, or a playable character. Heh, who knows probably after completing this game, I would be interested in watching some of the animes that the characters were in, pretty cool stuff yea.

Baseball Flair

After watching several episodes of H2, somehow I was really inspired and wished I was a baseball player. I suddenly got so interested and drawn into this sport, but the sad thing is in Singapore there’s basically no-one I know who plays baseball casually as a sport. (I’m still wondering why?)

And then there’s also syncronised-swimming. Personally I think it’s pretty cool in my opinion, though I think in Singapore no-one does this as well, or to be more exact, I think no guys or girls would want to learn and take up this as a swimming sport/culture that super hard and also very tedious to train. (it’s considered underwater acrobatics for that matter) And quoting from a syncro-swimming based website, if you can imagine doing a 600m run, holding your breath and performing gymnastic moves on your way round, you’ll get an idea of how fit you have to be, just for syncronised swimming. That’s basically how hard it is, challenging isn’t it? Not to mention that after watching Waterboys the jdrama (with Yamada Takayuki as the lead too), I was pretty inspired to go back swimming too. I think I haven’t really went for a good swim since last year and I can’t really remember when was the last time I actually swam, which isn’t quite a good sign since God knows if I were to step into a pool of water now, will I still be able to float myself or drown myself in disgust lmao.

Anyway, I just finished Episode 6 of H2 last night (it’s released up till episode 7 now), and it was a super-climax episode, with the exciting concluding final match against their final opponent team Eikyo for Hiro’s team Senkawa during the Semi-finals. Hiro got hurt in his left eye at the end of episode 5, so in this episode you will get to see how he overcome his injury and won the match. I took some screenshots of some critical moments for you guys to visualise the match, so just sit back and enjoy the pictures.

I’m in love…

…with Satomi Ishihara. Of course, what were you expecting then? Definitely am not jumping into another new relationship with some girl for the time-being, period. Relationships are a definite no-no for me right now, cause it’s like having a heavy rock tied to my own body, full of heavy burdens. Been so emotionally weak, I doubt I would be able to survive another heart-breaking hazard course without even contemplating about suicide. *touch wood*

So who is she you might ask? Definitely not your typical japanese idol. Don’t believe me? Will present you people some screenies as proof later. Things aside, I’ve recently gotten myself back to the jdrama craze. Honestly I haven’t touched any jdrama since after ‘Good Luck‘ by Takuya Kimura and Kou Shibasaki, which is quite a while back (watched it in 2003). Since then I haven’t really picked up any jdramas to watch, one of the reasons is also because its practically impossible to buy any jdramas off the local market unless you import in online. But with BitTorrent available now, things were much easier. So I searched for some new dramas just released in Japan, and this drama called ‘H2‘ caught my eye. It was the casting roles that caught my eye at first, as I recognised two names from the cast names. One of them was Yui Ichikawa, who is a swimsuit gravure idol/singer that debuted back in 2002, and ever since then I’ve been checking out and following her works. Another one was Takayuki Yamada. I first noticed this guy from the jdrama ‘Long Love Letter‘ back in 2001 starring Takako Tokiwa and Kubozuka Yosuke in it. He was just acting as a minor role as one of the students, but his acting was kinda good, so somehow he caught my eye. H2 was not his first major role in a jdrama, after having checked out his portfolio of works recently, but it’s one of his bigger roles nonetheless. And like I said, with someone like Yui Ichikawa in it, how can I not watch? I haven’t caught any of her jdrama series before, so this was the time to check out hows her acting etc.

Anyway, after watching two episodes of ‘H2′, I can say I’m kinda impressed. This is the kind of jdrama that will let you experience the warmth and flow within the characters involved in the story-plot. I forgotten to mention about this too, but perhaps if you’re a manga/anime fan, you would have noticed that H2 this title may seem familiar to you. You’re not wrong, this was based on the popular base-ball manga/anime series by Mitsuru Adachi. I haven’t personally checked out the anime series myself, it’s a rather old series I think (produced back in 1994) but I think I will definitely take time to check out the series since I’ve heard some rave reviews abt this anime. So having said that, I can say I really like this jdrama. In fact I think I have hit on a good one for a restart, this is a rather good jdrama to boot with for the year. I haven’t really been watching much jdramas recently but I do have a picky taste, I pick what I watch, be it for animes or dramas, same like-wise for movies. Jdrama fans shouldn’t miss this really, it’s a new drama that just started showing this month on TBS Japan. If you’re on Starhub’s MaxTV service, I’m sure you won’t have any difficulty in catching this series every thursday.

So enough of the long-winded crapology, let me present you the screenies and you judge it for yourself. If this one can let me feel the urge to play base-ball (I’ve always wondered why in Singapore no-one ever talks about this sport) and also make my heart melt (complicated love tangles beats unrequited love triangle anyday) then I’m sure it will also do for you.
