GE Afterthoughts?

My my, look at the time. It’s 6.35am now and the sun haven’t even officially rise yet. I just woke up from a good solid 9 hours of sleep, since I had an overnight session with the doutei gang outside on Fri night, and only came back home around 7am in the morning on Sat. We met in the evening for dinner and Mission Impossible 3, then after that it was more chilling out at the Swensons @ Orchard for some ice-cream with lotsa random guy’s talk and crapping around, and before we headed back we even had our morning breakfast at the Mcdonald’s near Shaw Tower which was opened 24-hours. Anyway come to think of it, I haven’t really did something like this for quite awhile, really have to hand it to the guys for that night-out session heh. I had certainly enjoyed myself, thanks to the great company.

So well, the Elections are finally over. I believe most of us already know the results of the voting by now; PAP won by a good margin of 66.6% votes and managed to return their mandate to the Parliament with the results. It’s over now and I won’t try to discuss this over and over again, but let’s just say I voted for what I thought was right. I had always believed that there’s a need to strike a balance when it comes to democracy and power in a society, and having the same group or a bunch of people ruling the country for over a couple good years, is certainly not very healthy in my opinion when it comes to building a balanced society in our current era. Still I don’t deny that PAP has done their fair share of good part for us, since they did helped to tide us over during the hard times like the economic downturn after the Sept 11th and SARS issue, and that’s something worth applauding for. But it’s probably just me, cos I’m not really comfortable when a certain power lies in one’s hands for too long. That thought is just enough to make me uneasy, that’s all. Everyone knows when one has the power to make decisions, power corrupts easily. This is so true even till today, in lotsa countries other than Singapore.

To be frank, I’m not someone who’s really interested in political stuffs, so these are just some of my personal perspectives and views abt it, and I don’t think it’s too sensitive either since everything is over now. I’m just expressing some of my afterthoughts abt the whole matter, considering how this thing was quite popularly debated and discussed over at one of my fav local forums. It’s over now, and we just have to move on and hope eventually everything will turn for the better for all of us, as what the PAP has promised all of us earlier on, if they managed to return their mandate for their side.

More photo updates and stuffs coming up soon, later guys. : ))
