I Like…

Theme: Solitary.

Solitary. I can’t help but sometimes find myself stuck in my own little world, just like this picture. This was taken quite sometime ago outside Plaza Singapura.

Theme: Lights.

Lights. Beautiful Lights. There’s a reason why I like to gaze at stars at night, watch fireworks etc.

Anime: Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho by Makoto Shinkai.

Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho. Also known as 雲のむこう、約束の場所. One of Makoto Shinkai’s notable works, featuring impressive animated backdrops with interesting characters and an intriguing story-plot. One of those few animes that really touched my heart in several ways.

Movie: Windstruck by Kwak Jae-yong.

Windstruck. By the director of “My Sassy Girl” and “The Classic“, Kwak Jae-yong brings us a story that shows us how a boy (Hyuk Jang) and a girl (Jeon Ji-hyun) falls in love with each other, in their quirky yet endearing love relationship. A rather sad and touching movie that moved me to tears when I saw it with my ex, and it held a certain significance for me within my heart, so it can be said as one of those few koreans films that I really liked.

Jdrama: Orange Days by TBS.

Orange Days. It was the best jdrama I saw back in 2004 and also in a long long time. Tells you the story about how Kai Yuuki (Satoshi Tsumabuki), an undergrad goes through his final year in social welfare psychology, while struggling in the middle of a job-hunting season, preparing for his graduation. One day he meets Sae Hagio (Kou Shibasaki), a beautiful girl who is playing the violin in the campus. But in contrast of her beautiful looks and gentle tone, her personality is somewhat impertinent. To top it off, she communicates through very vulgar sign languages too. Four years ago, she lost the most important thing for a violinist - her hearing. As a result Sae closed off her inner self from the outside world. Unexpectedly, through a date in place of his best friend, Kai comes into contact with Sae’s private side, and tries to open up her world. A very touching and brilliant jdrama that taught me about life and its meanings, as well as providing an insight into the world of the hearing-impaired for me.

SPEED are Hiroko Shimabukuro, Eriko Imai, Takako Uehara, and Hitoe Arakaki.

Speed. A popular J-pop group consisting of 4 members: Hiroko Shimabukuro, Eriko Imai, Takako Uehara, and Hitoe Arakaki. After their debut in 1996, they finally disbanded on the 31st of March, 2000. This was probably the first and the last J-pop girl group that I was really fanatic into, and I was truly sad back then when I knew of their disbanding announcement. After which, each of them went on to pursue their solo careers respectively, which Hiro was more actively involved with, in contrast of the other members. At present, Eriko has ceased her solo career and all her activities together along with her official FC and got married with one of the members from 175R. From what I know, members like Takako and Hitoe are not very active with their solo careers currently, with Hitoe currently living in NY now pursuing a degree there. Takako can still be seen endorsing Shiseido’s Proudia line of cosmetics, mainly doing CMs. So far only Hiro has been actively involved with her solo career, with her latest single “Clover” been released on the 3rd of August this year.

Crystal Liu Yi Fei (刘亦菲). I first got to know this fine girl through one of those forums that I frequent, and after reading up more about her, I found myself infatuated with her. Born on the 25th of August 1987, she is one of the youngest and most promising actress in Mainland, China. And my my, don’t judge her thinking that she’s just a bimbo with looks only just because she’s from China, she’s actually a PR in the US and having seen some of her TV interviews, her english totally rocks some of our Singaporeans’ socks off, no kidding. I haven’t seen any of her works yet, but so far she has acted in a couple of China/Taiwan dramas as well as 2 movies. In the latest news, her latest works “The Return of the Condor Heroes 2006″ is slated to be shown early next year in China, with comments by the original author Jin Yong stating that from what he has seen in the past replications of ROTCH, Liu Yi Fei has by far the best resemblance to what he would have in mind for the image for the role of Little Dragon Girl (Xiao Long Nu). Having such comments backed by the original author, I actually do think the same too. In fact honestly if you ask me, I do think that she has a rather unique ancient look compared to her modern look.

Saeko (サエコ). She starred in jdramas like “Dragon Sakura“, “Aijou Ippon” and “Tenka“, and also in her debut movie “NANA“. I first noticed her after watching “Dragon Sakura” back in July, and since then I have been in love with her. If you were to ask me to choose who would be the only japanese girl I would like to get stuck with in a single room, it would be her and only her. Yes, I’m that serious. Not even BoA or Hiro can compare to her lol. I can’t really explain in words, but she’s just my type of girl, both personality and looks-wise. Born on the 16th of November 1986, her birthday is just in 5 days time! Saeko-chan, watashi daisukidayo! (^ ^)V

Ok my break is over, time to go back and bury myself into my books again. Wish me luck guys! Ciaos.
