Goodbye Densha, Hello Dragon Zakura!

Densha Otoko has finally ended its run on FujiTV last week in Japan, and with the help of a broadband connection and P2P networks (Oh how we love the internet…) I finally sat down and finished the last episode two nights ago. The last episode that aired in Japan had a pretty high ratings of 25.5%, possibly one of the strongest jdrama contender for this season. Anyway, the last episode is just there to wrap things up, since we all know from the start, that Densha will eventually end up with his “Hermes-san” together and live happily ever after. (just like the real-life account story) Personally, as a jdrama fan and been a veteran one at it (hey cmon, I have been watching jdramas since I was like what, 13 yrs old?) I do have my own gripes about the last episode, but all in all let’s just do a recap and summary of it now by yours truly.

Parts of the finale episode I disliked:

- The first 14 minutes of the whole 1 hour and 10 minutes episode is just a bloody recap (and I really really hate recaps, there’s a reason why I don’t watch Naruto anime)
- Densha’s confession to Hermes, which is something too “gu niang” and “wussy” for my liking.
- Too much crying among the forum peers, and the 1000 message thread goodbye was too bloody long.

Parts of the finale episode I really liked:

+ Sakurai-san’s plans kana backfired again. This guy is really, pure hilarious shit. ‘Nuff said.
+ Appearance of Sakurai-san’s Lan Evolution. How often do you see such cars in a jdrama? Been a car lover of course I have no complains.
+ Densha trying to act blur, about not been able to see without his contacts, lol. Who would have thought a nerd/geek like him, would stoop to this kind of tricks, towards Hermes-san?!?! Wah really is 360 degrees change man.
+ Seeing the 2ch forum moderator/admin patched up with the girl. (who is also one of the forumer)
+ Jinkama Misuzu Victims’ Club! LMAO.
+ More Aoi-san (Densha’s sister) goodness, though it’s for a short while only, again. She’s also known as Maki Horikita (also known as 堀北真希) in real-life.

And here are some recap highlight scenes of the episode.

Sakurai-san driving in his Lan Evo, offering her a ride while carrying out his plan to stop Hermes-san from finding Densha.

Sakurai-san’s Lan Evo, back-view. *drools*

Sakurai-san’s Lan Evo kana towed away, sadness.

*inserts commentary* Yubi wa! My Lan Evo! Hermes! Come back!

Sakurai-san getting pwned by Densha, ’nuff said.

2ch forumers rejoicing at the fact that Densha and Hermes-san are finally together. REJOICE! (^ ^)

Jinkama smsing halfway on her cellphone, and got disturbed by an ohji-sama. Same guy from the Densha talk trivia. Funny stuffs.

Priceless picture. Think I don’t need to do any captions for this.

Densha getting KOed on his desktop, after a whole night of countless events and stuff.

Admin of 2ch doing a wonderful ASCII art for Densha, for graduating from the singles thread. Touching stuffs, and man that guy’s real good with ASCII art. *speechless*

All guys of the Jinkama Misuzu Victims’ Club! UNITE!

A 30 minutes SP episode on the Oct 8th, don’t miss it! (I believe this is just a side-story, rather than an epilogue of the Densha saga concerning Densha and Hermes-san)

So well, all good things must come to an end. I just got myself started on another new jdrama series currently, titled Dragon Zakura (also known as ドラゴン桜). From my initial impressions after 2 episodes and counting, it seems like a spin-off version of Great Teacher Onizuka, and the Gokusen series. But the story and characters are enough to keep me interested, so I will definitely continue to follow this series.
