Portable Love (2nd Ed)

Remember I did an article about portable gadgets and stuff (Sony PSP etc) sometime back? Well this time it’s something similiar again, it’s about my spanky new toy, the Nintendo DS. I bought the recently launched pure white color edition via Play-asia, instead of the normal and oh-so-common platinium silver color. I could rave on and on and have a super long-winded article about this, but I guess this time I would just let the pictures do the talking. Did some cool wi-fi picto-chatting and multi-play with the usual GS peeps about two weeks ago, outside Gamescore. Totally hilarious and fun experience I say. Well enough of the talk, may I present you guys and girls the pictures now.

Ok I admit, I consider this to be more of an impulsive purchase compared to the Sony PSP I bought sometime ago. But I reck’on I have to get this sooner or later, since Katamari DS has already been announced (I’m a Katamari fanboy like what Val says!) and at the same time I was very keen on getting the white color DS for myself since it looks so cool and tempting. So I succumbed to my desires (what a sinner lol) and finally got it imported via Play-asia. Local distributor Maxsoft didn’t bring in the new colors till about a week later, so I was one of those few early adopters for the white color DS in Singapore, I think.

As you can see from the pics, we really had fun with our small DS gathering. And I think the Pictochat feature on the DS is way cool, a very innovative way of IM (Instant Messenging) in my opinion. It supports up to 16 people at e same time in a chatroom, through DS’s built in wi-fi. (ad-hoc mode) This is one such feature that you would never find on the Sony PSP, though I believe in time as more hacks are available for the PSP (the possibilities for hacking on the PSP are infinite) I believe IM on the PSP would be available sooner or later, but definitely nothing like Pictochat, I would say.

And by the way, good news for fellow Sony PSP owners. If you still haven’t realised by now, Sony has released an update on their official JP site for the Sony PSP (Japan version) back on March 24th. It updates the current firmware on your Sony PSP to version 1.5, which adds several significant improvements to the system, including an improved sleep mode, as well as allowing you to retain your screen mode for viewing videos on the memorystick. (no more default to zoom mode) Quite an update if you ask me, though still not what we had hope for. (where’s that web browser, email and word processor found in that unofficial beta update?) Hopefully in time to come, we will get to see a better firmware update with more features added to the Sony PSP. I really really dread for the option to change the default wallpaper for it, this month’s wallpaper sucks, anyone agree with me? *rolls-eyes*

If you don’t know what colors are for each month, below is just a summary of the available colors for each month, or you could just change the month in the calender settings yourself to have a peek of the available colors.

January = Grey
February = Dull-Yellow
March = Lime-Green
April = Pink (really hate the color for this mth lol)
May = Dark-Green
June = Light-Purple
July = Tealish-Blue
August = Blue
September = Purple
October = Gold
November = Brown
December = Red

Ok enough for today, time to retire for the night. Before I go may I present you some pictures of my very own Sony PSP, it’s still pictures alright but at least you will not be ogling at boring product pics. Oyasumi nasai minna-san! (^ ^)V
